While Pat O’Neill was still a student at Gloucester Catholic High School in Gloucester City, NJ, he participated in a summer lacrosse team. That’s where he was first introduced to GMercyU.
From my initial visit, I knew GMercyU was the place for me. Hearing a lot of great stories from the alumni solidified that feeling.
Experience on Campus
Pat is currently serving as Captain for the Men’s Lacrosse team and is one of the team’s representatives on the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
In August 2022, Pat was an Orientation Leader and is planning on joining GMercyU’s chapter of The Hidden Opponent, an organization advocating for mental health support amongst student-athletes.
“One of my favorite things about GMercyU is the campus. I have been utilizing the trails connected to campus for my runs since my freshman year,” Pat said.
Experience in Psychology and Criminal Justice
Pat is a Psychology major with a minor in Criminal Justice. So far, he has enjoyed both programs and commends the faculty members on how much they care about their students’ personal success.
Dr. Patrick McGrain is one faculty member that stands out to Pat.
He is extremely passionate about what he does and is always trying to find new ways to make the material relatable and interesting.
During Summer 2021 and Summer 2022, Pat interned with the General Services Administration.
“During this internship, I assisted with things such as a National Return to Workplace Plan for partnered federal agencies to determine spacing needs in upcoming leases,” Pat said.
After graduating in 2024, Pat’s goal is to obtain his Master’s in Psychology.
