Anna Krivosheev began her journey at GMercyU in 2013.
“I love that it is a small community of friendly professors who are passionate about what they teach. It was an amazing experience to meet the community and experience a fun learning environment,” Anna said.
Her favorite part about GMercyU is the Mission Statement because of its focus on service. During her time at GMercyU, Anna participated in Alternative Spring Break (ASB) with Campus Ministry.
Experience in the Psychology Program
Anna loved her time within the program and described it as “one of the best Psychology programs.”
Every professor I had was amazing to work with. All of the professors seemed to be willing to work with students and go above and beyond to help and guide students when needed.
Sister Joan and Dr. Rebecca Gullan are two professors that stood out to Anna. She said that they “Made some of the biggest impacts in my life.”
Within the program, Anna conducted undergraduate research on whether people felt more anxious about the future because of COVID-19.
“It was one of the highlights of the psychology program and it was very educational and interesting to complete,” Anna said.
During her senior year, Anna’s world was changed when she had to complete her final semesters in an online, remote environment. Despite her preference to having in-person instruction, Anna said that “the professors did an amazing job with the transition and I couldn’t have asked for more support and guidance when I needed it.”
Returning to Ukraine
Anna is Ukrainian, and before the current war going on, she would visit often. One of her life goals is to return to Ukraine to work with children in the foster care system and in orphanages.
She said that “Ukraine’s orphanage system is broken. Children are less likely to have a good education and future in general when growing out of the orphanage system.”
She expressed that many of the children within the system are neglected and experience trauma due to lack of resources.
I hope to one day open/direct an or multiple orphanages. I want to improve the system and provide resources for the children to have a brighter future.
Post-Graduation
Anna graduated from GMercyU in May 2021. Since then, she has started to pursue her Master’s in Social Work at Widener University.
